Rama Salla Dieng, Senegalese feminist, writer and researcher, is currently working on her PhD in Development studies at SOAS, University of London, where she is researching the contentious issue of ‘land grabbing’ or agricultural investment. Rama’s particular interest lies in the discrepancy between discourse and practice; how the population at large does not benefit, despite a growth to its economy. From 2010-2015, Rama was part of the policy research team in Senegal, helping to advise those making the decisions. More comfortable in French, yet fluent in English, Rama and I interchanged between the two languages in this interview.
